Extracurricular Activities

Activities for Primary Grades:

1. International Food Day--Parents prepare and serve food to children. Food represents some of the 35 cultures represented in school.
2. Field Trips: Parent and teacher chaperones bring children to local theatres, the Kimmel Center, Linvilla Orchards, and natural parks for nature walks.
3. Winter/Spring Concerts: Students participate in singing and keyboard recitals for parents, guardians, teachers and other students.
4. Peace Clubs: An after-school program conducted by the teachers, students learn games, new physical activities, arts and crafts, and dancing with children from other grades.
5. Walkathon: Children walk 1-3 miles after gaining pledges from family, neighbors, and friends. This becomes a way for children to contribute to De Sales "on their own."
6. Peace Assembly: Student peacemakers over the past year are honored in a culminating assembly in the auditorium

Upper Grades:

1. Junior Varsity and Varsity Basketball for Boys and Girls
2. Track Team of Boys and Girls all directed by volunteer coaches who are parents or friends
3. Winter and Spring Concerts: participation by all students
4. Peace Clubs: Dance, Chess, Journal Writing, Drama, Knitting, Crocheting, etc.
5. Field Trips: Two a year for each class to sites connected to the curriculum of each grade level.
6. Speech, geography, math, art, essay and poetry, spelling contests beyond school boundaries
7. Walkathon
8. Celebration of Black History Month
9. Religious Prayer Services and activities: Thanksgiving Food Drive, May Procession, Christmas Nativity in church, Monthly School Mass.
